The US Coast Guard discovered debris from a medical transport aircraft off Nantucket Island, Massachusetts on Saturday and launched a search for six people aboard the plane.
The Gulfstream G-100 lost contact with the Federal Aviation Administration during a flight from Bermuda to Boston on Saturday morning, according to an FAA spokesperson. The FAA issued a search-and-rescue alert notice for the aircraft at approximately 1:20 a.m. local time Saturday.
The plane was conducting a medical evacuation from Bermuda when contact was lost. The Coast Guard confirmed the discovery of debris but did not provide details about the condition or location of the six people who were onboard.
