Eritrean troops crossed into Ethiopia's Tigray region on Wednesday, prompting a drone strike from Ethiopian government forces, according to civilian witnesses, a militia commander and conflict monitoring group Acled.
Military vehicles carrying Eritrean soldiers entered from Eritrea's southern border and reached the town of Adigrat, located approximately 25 miles south of the border, according to those sources.
The Guardian reports that the government drone attack raises the risk of renewed internal conflict in Ethiopia that could trigger an all-out regional war between the neighboring countries.
